Aspen Academy Programs in the Summer
A Campus Built for Summer Learning
Located in the heart of Greenwood Village, Aspen Academy provides an inspiring setting for some of the most engaging enrichment programs and summer camps in Colorado. Campers learn and explore in bright classrooms, STEAM labs, art spaces, and outdoor areas across our campus.
While Aspen Academy does not operate all summer programs directly, we thoughtfully sublease our campus to organizations and educators whose work aligns closely with our mission. Several camps are even led by Aspen teachers!

TYPES OF SUMMER PROGRAMS HOSTED AT ASPEN ACADEMY
Just like our school-year programming, Aspen Academy’s summer programs reflect the many ways children learn best. Across all offerings, students practice collaboration, confidence, and independence. From the studio to the athletics field, each program helps develop campers into leaders.
Leadership & Social-Emotional Development
Leadership and SEL summer programs emphasize mentorship, goal-setting, and resilience, supporting students as they learn how to manage challenges and take ownership of their growth. These experiences are especially meaningful for students who thrive when learning feels personal and purposeful.
Examples from previous summers include:
- Kickstart Camp: Helping incoming K–8 students build confidence, relationships, and familiarity with Aspen’s learning environment
- Curious Jane Leadership-in-Training (C.I.T.) Program: Leadership development for rising middle schoolers through mentorship and responsibility
- Amazing Athletes clinics for older students: Emphasizing resilience, teamwork, sportsmanship, and bouncing back from setbacks
- Untapped Learning
STEAM, Innovation & Academic Enrichment
STEAM summer programs for middle school students and younger learners emphasize curiosity and problem-solving. From coding and STEM exploration to academic skill-building, learners dive deeper into the subjects that they love through hands-on projects and collaborative challenges, without the pressure of grades or assessment.
Examples from previous summers include:
- Camp Invention: Hands-on STEM challenges focused on creativity, invention, and design thinking
- Steve Spangler Science Camp: Immersive, take-home experiments that make science tangible and memorable
- Curious Jane Maker Camps: Science, engineering, and design projects built around weekly creative themes

Arts, Creativity & Expression
Creative camps hosted on campus give students space to explore visual art, design, performance, and imaginative work in studio-style environments that encourage exploration and creative risk-taking. These programs value process over perfection and help students develop confidence in sharing their ideas and voice.
Examples from previous summers include:
- Summer Art Camp with Aspen Academy's Art Teacher, Mrs. Hatch: Multi-session visual art experiences for younger students
- Enlightened Art Camp: Drawing, painting, and sculpture using a range of media

- Piano Playtime: Early childhood music experiences designed to support cognitive development through play
Movement, Sports & Outdoor Exploration
Many camps incorporate physical activity, teamwork, and outdoor challenges that encourage healthy risk-taking and collaboration. Some are skills-based, while others are more adventure-oriented. Whichever you choose, these programs remind students that learning happens with the whole body, not just the mind.
Examples from previous summers include:
- Amazing Athletes Camps & Clinics: Including Epic Sports, Traditional Sports, Olympics, Net Sports, and SuperNinjas
- Advanced Athletic Training Clinics: Preparing older students for middle and high school sports
- Soccer Shots: Age-appropriate soccer programming focused on skill-building and sportsmanship
- Dance intensives and cirque-style movement camps: Hosted by MDP Collective
The programs listed above are examples of private summer camps previously hosted on Aspen Academy’s campus. Offerings vary by year and are operated independently by program providers

Frequently Asked Questions About Summer Camps
What is a private summer camp?
A private summer camp is independently operated by an organization or educator, rather than a public school or municipal program. At Aspen Academy, private summer camps are hosted on our campus by trusted partners who use our facilities while bringing their own expertise, curriculum, and leadership.
What is the best age to send kids to summer camp?
There’s no single “right” age. Many children are ready for day camps in early elementary school, while others thrive in more specialized or leadership-focused programs during middle school. Readiness often depends on a child’s independence, curiosity, and comfort in new environments.
Is my child ready for summer camp?
If your child can follow basic routines, communicate their needs, and is curious about trying something new, they’re likely ready. Many summer programs are designed to support first-time campers and help them build confidence as they go.
How do summer camps help kids set and reach goals?
The best summer camps create space for reflection and ownership. Whether a child is learning to code a project, perform on stage, or work as part of a team, they practice setting goals, adjusting strategies, and seeing the results of their effort. These are all skills that transfer directly into the school year and beyond.
