Over the past six years, I have had the privilege of witnessing the joy in the eyes and faces of the students every day here at Aspen Academy. As a school counselor in an entrepreneurial leadership school, I am so grateful to work in an academic community that is intentionally caring and compassionate about helping young people live their most fulfilling lives.
However, it is a sobering reality that not all young people are surrounded by such a loving community and support system. As a result, the statistics of youth suicide are alarming and cannot be ignored. Bringing this issue to the forefront of our community’s attention is one proactive step that we can take collectively to promote emotional health among our students.
