Welcome Back from Our PCO President!

  • The Aspen Difference
Debbie Schwartz, PCO President

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Debbie and I am mom to Ben in fourth grade (and George who barks in carline). We are entering our sixth year at Aspen and love being involved with our community. I am president of our Parent Civic Organization (Aspen for PTA).  More details on this are found in the Heartwood that you will receive or on the website here.

Like all of you, we are soaking up the last weeks of summer and getting excited for the new school year. We are so excited to see our returning families and welcome the new families. For the new families, I hope that Kick Start, the grade level Popsicle Parties, and mentors have given you a great introduction to our community and we are all here to help, just ask!

Aspen is such a special place, the community has a place for everyone. The last two years have both challenged and strengthened us in ways we could have never imagined. Last year was a challenging year for all of us, but we got through it together and I would like to continue to navigate these challenges together. I ask you to go into this year with an open heart and mind.

I know that so many of you have questions and concerns about this year and those will be answered at the virtual Town Hall on August 18th (register and submit questions here) and you will have the opportunity to meet other parents and students that week at the playground parties (check your calendars).

PCO will continue to support our families and faculty, although it might look a little different this year.  We want to make community our number one priority, while working within the current guidelines.  I am happy to announce that we are bringing back some of our traditions and volunteer opportunities. However, they may look a little different. Please join us for the all-PCO meeting on September 16th (8:30 AM) to hear all about what we do and share your ideas!

We also are excited to host a First Day of School Coffee on Curtis Field.  Please join us following drop off on the field with your coffee and chair.  After carline drop off, please park in the south lot and join us!

Looking Forward to a Great Year,

Debbie Schwartz
