Third Graders Learning About Raptors & Our Environment

This week, Master Falconer Kin Quitugua and other guests from HawkQuest, presented an exciting and informative program on raptors.

HawkQuest was founded by Quitugua in 1986 and is an organization dedicated to educating and inspiring people about birds of prey while promoting conservation and environmental stewardship. Through their raptor education programs, they provide a valuable learning experience for elementary students. With a mission to foster respect and appreciation for these magnificent creatures, HawkQuest plays a vital role in enhancing environmental education in schools.

Our third grade students had a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with various raptor species including a hawk, a barred owl, a falcon, and a bald eagle. Through his engaging presentation, students learn about the biology, natural history, and conservation challenges faced by these majestic birds while experiencing an interactive and fun learning process. We hope students experienced a growing sense of wonder, curiosity, and respect for wildlife. By fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for raptors, students are empowered to become advocates for wildlife conservation and protectors of our natural world.

As part of our third grade service learning, this presentation sets us in motion on our learning and commitment to supporting animal welfare.
