Championship Energy Starts in Practice: How Aspen Athletics Shaped My Leadership

Aspen Athletics has really become something special, and I’m so glad I got to be part of it. I started playing soccer in 6th grade, and looking back, that was a huge lesson in leadership—even if I didn’t realize it at the time. I learned it wasn’t just about the sport or kicking a ball; it was about showing up, working hard, and being there for your team.

That’s also where I learned that championship energy isn’t something that just shows up on game day. It comes from practice and putting in the work even when nobody is watching.

By 8th grade, I was playing my second year of A-Team basketball and volleyball, and I carried those same lessons into everything I did. This year was pretty unforgettable, both of my teams ended up as champions! But honestly, it’s the hard work I remember most, the practices, teamwork, and figuring things out together.

Being an Aspen athlete has helped me so much outside of sports, too. I’ve learned how to stay calm when things get stressful and how to manage my time. Most importantly, I’ve learned that leadership is all about energy: setting the tone for your team and helping people stay positive when things get tough.

Aspen Athletics helped me grow as a person and a leader. If you’re thinking about joining, do it! The culture here is already so strong. Let’s keep winning those trophies!
