Financial Aid
2016-2017 Processing Year; 2017-2018 Academic Year

Financial aid at Aspen Academy is awarded on the basis of demonstrated need. This is determined by factors such as income, number of children, age of parents, unusual medical expenses, taxes, assets, liabilities, and other tuition-based schools. Financial aid is treated as a gift from the school to the receiving family; there are no repayment requirements. Applying for financial aid does not affect the chances for admission. Financial Aid is offered to students in Kindergarten-8th grade.

How Is My Need Determined?

Aspen Academy utilizes the online service of Financial Aid for School Tuition (FAST) to process applications. FAST is the standard submission format for all applications. FAST does not decide whether financial assistance will be given or how much to give; rather, FAST provides a need-based financial aid analysis service that includes a recommendation of what a family should reasonably contribute towards tuition. FAST takes into consideration several financial factors including income, debt, assets, the number of family members who attend a tuition-based school, etc.

All information from FAST is kept confidential. Results are reviewed by the Financial Aid Committee, which makes award determinations based on next year's financial aid budget. Keep in mind that the recommendations from FAST serve as guidelines for financial aid decisions. Many new and returning students qualify for financial aid, therefore Aspen Academy may not be able to offer assistance to all families, nor can it provide the full demonstrated need in all cases.

    • The application process is self-guided and managed by FAST. You may navigate in and out of the program; this allows you to partially complete an application and go back to it another time. The help desk is available by email or phone 24/7.
    • The application fee is $38.00 and will be paid by credit card at the end of the session. Contact the Admissions Office if you experience hardship or do not have a credit card.
    • After completing the application, you will be required to mail your 2016 tax returns for both state and federal taxes with all schedules and W-2's by:
      • February 6th, 2016 - Returning Families
      • February 10th, 2017 - New Families
    • Please mail your 2016 tax returns to the following address:

FAST Processing
1316 North Union St.
Wilmington, DE 19806

    • Include Aspen Academy on the outside of the envelope to ensure faster processing of your application
    • Make your tax appointment early to avoid delays. Your 2017 tax returns are due May 11th, 2018.
    • Applications for Financial Aid must be submitted by:
        • February 5th, 2018 - Deadline for Returning Families
        • February 9th, 2018- Deadline for New Families
        • Financial Aid Notification:
          • Returning Family Notifications will be distributed February 16th, 2018
          • New Family Notifications will be mailed with acceptance letters

Financial aid amounts vary, with a maximum award of 50%. Financial aid awards are not guaranteed to remain the same year to year; in fact, they will change as financial circumstances change. A new financial aid application must be submitted every year. The student must remain in good academic and disciplinary standing in order to qualify for financial aid.
