Welcome to Aspen Academy!
Our application process is an opportunity for us to get to know your family and to discuss your goals and philosophies. We thank you for considering Aspen Academy as a home for your family. Please be assured that your application will be handled with the greatest of care.
Admission to Aspen Academy is highly selective.* Our challenge is to identify bright and kind students who will benefit from an Aspen Academy education and who are able to handle the academic rigor inherent in the program. Aspen Academy is committed to partnering with parents who share a common value in growing not just what their children learn in the traditional sense, but also who they are as people and leaders so that they may go on to make the world a better place.
For a student’s application to be considered, the following must be completed:
- Step One: Attend An Informational Tour
- Step Two: Submit Your Online Application
- Step Three: Academic Records and Teacher Recommendation Forms
- Step Four: Student Visit and Assessments
- Step Five: Testing
- Step Six: Parent Interview
Small group informational tours for prospective parents are available for our lower school and middle school. These are not your typical school tour and will include deep discussions on our mission, vision, philosophy, teaching methodologies, and curriculum. Please be prepared to spend about 1.5 hours. (Parents only please. Students will have the opportunity to tour on their shadow day.)
Please check the website for specific dates, or call 303-346-3500 to check for availability.
The regular application period each year will begin September 1st through February 9th. Applications outside of this period will be considered on a rolling, space available basis. We require a non-refundable application and assessment fee. The application fee may be waived for children of staff members and families applying for financial aid.
The admissions application helps the Admissions Office get to know your family. The questions offer parents the opportunity to share stories, perspective, and their voice to their child's file.
Aspen Academy utilizes an Online Teacher Recommendation Form. Applicants are prompted to provide an email address for the teacher you wish to complete the recommendation. For students applying to Kindergarten (if applicable) and above, the Admissions Office must also receive a copy of the child's transcripts and/or report cards, and any recent standardized testing results. All information provided by teachers is confidential and will not be shared with families.
Aspen Academy requires the following testing for admission:
Junior Kindergarten Applicants:
Developmental readiness is assessed by our teachers during the applicant group visit, but no other formal testing is required.
Kindergarten-1st Grade Applicants:
The AABL (Admission Assessment for Beginning Learners). Please register your child here. Aspen Academy offers the AABL on campus on January 12 and January 21; alternatively, you may register your child to take the AABL at another school and request that the results be sent to Aspen Academy (ERB code 570894). The AABL testing fee is $65; please call the AA Admission Office to request assistance if the fee is a hardship.
2nd-4th Grade Applicants:
During their visit, 2nd-4th Grade applicants will take a reading and vocabulary assessment. 3rd and 4th Grade applicants are also required to take an online math assessment.
5th-8th Grade Applicants:
The Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) is a required step of the application process for Grades 6 through 8 (and an option for applicants to Grade 5). Please note that AA will accept results from the SSAT in lieu of the ISEE. For more information on the exam and to register, please use the links below. Please call the Admission Office at 303-346-3500 ext 108 to request a fee waiver form if the $105 testing fee is a hardship.
