Admission Process

For many families, the independent school admissions process may be a new experience.  At Aspen Academy, the application process is an opportunity for us to get to know your family and to discuss your goals and philosophies.  We thank you for considering Aspen Academy as a home for your family.  Please be assured that your application will be handled with the greatest of care.

 

For a student’s application to be considered during the regular admission season, please complete the following steps between now and February 1, 2009:

 

WEBSITE:

Thoroughly review the school’s web site at www.aspenacademy.org. This is a highly comprehensive website that describes our guiding principles, methodologies and curriculum in great detail.

Submit your New Student Inquiry :
Once your inquiry is received, our director of admissions will follow up with you to answer any initial questions that you may have.

PARENT Information Session And tour: 
To learn more about Aspen Academy and tour the campus, parents may call 303-346-3500 or email our Admissions Director:

1.       RSVP to our next Information Session will be held on Thursday, December 11th at 6:30 PM.  The session will consist of a slide show and presentation from our Head of School, as well as a student panel and tour.  Teachers, parents, and students will also be on hand to answer questions. 

2.       Arrange for an individual tour on a school day.  A tour can be scheduled before an application is filed, however, a 30 minute information session/interview will be encouraged on the tour day.

APPLICATION:  October 15 – February 1
Complete and submit the following application forms along with a non-refundable $60 application to the Director of Admissions.  The application fee may be waived for families applying for financial aid; please call the Director of Admissions at 303-346-3500 for a fee waiver.  Candidates are encouraged to submit an application as early in the school year as possible. 

Family Interview/Student Visit:
After receiving your completed application, the Director of Admissions will contact you to schedule a family interview and student visit. Students entering first grade and above will participate in a full day student visitation. Student assessments will take place during the student visit.  The interview is designed to ensure that there is a good fit between the family and the school with regard to academics, character and community.

Submit Transcripts and Teacher Recommendations Forms
Teacher recommendation forms should be completed by your child’s current (or recent) teacher and sent to the Admissions Director within two weeks of the application submission.  All information provided by teachers is confidential and will not be shared with families.

For students applying to First Grade and above, a copy of your child’s transcripts and/or report cards as well as any recent standardized testing results must also be submitted to the Director of Admissions within two weeks of your child’s application.

Teacher recommendation forms and the transcript release can be downloaded from the Aspen Academy website.

FINANCIAL AID:  January 1 – February 15
Submit all financial aid documents if applying for financial aid NO LATER THAN FEBRUARY 15, 2009. 
This includes 2008 and 2007 W-2’s and federal tax returns and completion of the online financial aid application at
www.nais.org/financialaid/sss.

DECISIONS
Admission committee decisions for the Middle School (grades 5-8) are mailed on Monday, March 2, 2009; for the lower grades (Pre-Kindergarten – grade 4) on Monday, March 9, 2009.  When a candidate is accepted, the prompt return of the enrollment contract with a non-refundable deposit is required to reserve a place.
