Music Performance

Music at Aspen Academy is first and foremost fun! Our goal is to expose our students to a variety of musical styles and genres, develop an appreciation of music and build self-confidence.  We strive to create a lifelong appreciation of music for our students by promoting a sense of group participation and teamwork through a variety of school music performances. We love making music!

Our students look forward to music classes twice weekly where we learn rhythm patterns, note reading and singing in tune as a group as well as creative movement to music. We have learned and performed everything from opera to rap, from selections from the 60’s to the 80’s and 90’s. Our students understand the connections between styles of music and they appreciate the differences as well.

A select group of singers from our 3rd through 5th grade classes joined together to create the “A Minors.”  We also have a group of middle school singers called the "A Majors."  Both groups sing and dance at school music extravaganzas and have even performed the national anthem at a Rockies game.  We also perform at retirement homes during the holiday season as well as other special occasions.

Aspen Academy also offers private instrumental instruction to a large percentage of our students. Piano, guitar, violin, viola, and voice instruction are available during the school day. Our students perform at all school assemblies, social events (such as a tea held for our teachers), as well as an annual recital.
