Excellence in academic performance is achieved at Aspen Academy through our commitment to developing and perpetuating a true love of learning. We foster this love of learning by employing a highly advanced pedagogy, or instructional methodology.
Essential elements of the Aspen Academy academic approach include the elements listed in the links to the left. Click on each to find out more.
When determining the academic standards for Aspen Academy, the Board of Trustees and its advisors reviewed the standards of the highest performing schools in the world and the nation, national standards, core knowledge standards, and Colorado State Standards. In each academic area, we chose to mirror the standard that represented the highest and most plausible approach.
Our academic program begins with Junior Kindergarten. Junior Kindergarten is a 5 full day program that offers small group and individual learning opportunities. We are a community of learners that thrive on continuity and perpetuating love of school. The curriculum is presented in a theme related approach. The children rotate through a variety of center/work jobs within each of the JK classrooms. The children have an extended period of time to stay focused and embrace a particular lesson which is ideal in securing conceptual understanding while also fostering positive social skills.
