Aspen Academy views the visual arts as a way for students to learn to express themselves through a variety of mediums.  Students will have the opportunity to be involved in activities that allow for expression and communication using their imagination and the stimuli around them on a regular basis.  During art classes students will be exposed to many artists and their techniques which will lend to an appreciation for the arts and the beauty it creates.  Students will be encouraged to make connections to their own lives and the world around them while creating their interpretation of different art forms.
 

The theatre art of Drama at Aspen Academy will provide students an opportunity to engage in improvisation, memorization, pantomime and stage directions for a well rounded base of drama.  Through physical and verbal expression, students perform as individuals and members of a group.

 

Students may earn participation points for appropriate choices made before, during and after Drama class.  This includes: arriving to class with proper materials (i.e. scripts, memorized lines and homework), actively participating in warm-up activity and proper completion of the day’s task.

 

Through Drama, students gain self-confidence, public speaking skills and teamwork.  These invaluable skills shine through into all areas of the growth process.  When students feel comfortable speaking before large groups, their communication skills improve across the board.
